River Information/Weather

Guadalupe River below Canyon Dam

The Guadalupe River is flowing at 235 cfs.

The Comal River is flowing at 270 cfs.

According to Outfitters:

Tubing is optimal on the Guadalupe between 200 CFS and 600 CFS. Tubing may take place up to 1000 CFS and is up to outfitter's discretion.

Rafting can take place almost anytime. Rafting is the mode of choice over 1000 CFS. Guided raft trips are a requirement from most outfitters over 2000 CFS, however, that is also at the outfitter's discretion. The majority of outfitters also have age restrictions and all have life jackets available.

If you are uncomfortable with distributing or determining this information, the best course of action is to refer inquiries to a river outfitter.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort

Location:
Schlitterbahn, the nation's most popular summertime waterpark, is located on the banks of the spring-fed Comal River in the heart of New Braunfels.

The 65-acre waterpark and resort complex will open on the weekends starting in April and full time in May.  Most of Schlitterbahn's 40 family attractions use chlorinated municipal water which comes primarily from Canyon Lake.  The park has highly efficient systems to capture and recycle this water.  Several of the park's original tube chutes and pools use spring water from the Comal River.  This untreated water is pumped from the original channel of the Comal, circulated through several attractions, and flows back into the river.  For park information, see Schlitterbahn's website.

Canyon Lake has developed a popular recreational area since the mid-1960's when Canyon Lake was built by the U.S. Corps of Engineers . Nestled among the scenic hills of the Texas Hill Country just north of New Braunfels, Canyon Lake offers an abundance of water recreation activities - fishing, sailing, boating, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, tubing, swimming and great family fun.
